Poem: The Demented

I move you

as you watch

through eyes reaching back

to dance floors hung with

cigarette smoke swirls

Your double-breasted jacket

brushing cozily against a firmly guarded chest

Slowly moving together

feeling forever young

until

the music fades away

And then you turn

to see me sitting next to you

Are you searching among

reminiscence and room?

The pirouette now is sedate and stiff

partnered hands upon cold metal rails

that follow your lead

It is not love that holds us up in the end

But the lonely grip

of the metallic burn

the flickering memories that dart

with us

in and out

as our dance partners

once did

Poem: Fed

Oh cratered heart

holy like Mother Teresa

and Swiss cheese

Eaten by disappointment

from the moment of conception

birthed into the recycling bin

to be repurposed into  something more useful

It becomes a hardened pit

squeezed tight with shuttered angst

surrounded by a sea of tears

whose salt will season the pain

And when the tides subside

and pull away from the gritty sands

it leaves behind a moist wet world

fed by a juicy beating heart

Poem: Lured

The ripped raw slash

of disappointment

cuts me

A wounded animal

once again dragging

my leg pulled from

the trap

It was the sweet smell of bait

luring me to the center

as I sniffed my way

to the heart of doom

Each time coming away

more caked with sap

leaking from torn open

disillusionments

from crawling toward you

even knowing

you would never understand

Thumbs down

Back to the drawing board. My secret mission did not really turn out as planned. A bit disappointing, but not completely unexpected. I must keep having faith that things will work out they way they are meant to be.

The biggest thing I have a hard time remembering is to relax and stick to the ideals and plans I’ve imagined for my life. It’s easy to let impatience and boredom interfere.

So, stay in the moment and enjoy and be grateful.

It will all work out as it should.

Poem: Online

We meet in the clouds

the place of invisible vibes

where vagabonds drift

no longer real

Our touch may be felt

though we never may embrace

fingers tapping kisses

uttered in bytes of frenzy

So far

So far

the heart must travel

and find its way

For it no longer lands

easily upon a nearby soul

But must instead search

the whole round earth

For another

Poem: Reckless Rhyme

It’s just junk

So I’m in a funk

To wonder why this hunk

Of junk

Is dumped?

We walk by

On the fly

Wondering why?

There are theories to debunk

The weather is a mess

The earth in distress

Humans unwilling to confess

What if animals could speak

Would they think it bleak?

And trees give cheek?

Either way

I will say

My heart is gray

We must stop today

Or they’ll be much to pay
