Poem: Fingerprint

I will stay

and leave my fingerprint upon you

if then you

turn to go

I will be found

What is left of me

is left on you

too

We are together

forever

having touched

A hushed murmur

softly in your ear

and you see me

turn away

in the dark of dreams

my fingerprint left light

ever on your skin

  1. This grew out of something completely different. I was doing my police ride alone actually, and the police officer touched the back of every vehicle he stopped and left a fingerprint in case the driver shot him. That way they would have identification of the car…. anyway, it turned out to be a very different poem.
