Poem: The Pearl

I am gladly me

although there is much you

don’t see

most can’t see beneath

the murky coating

worn like a cocoon

shed when ready to soar

Only few

can pierce my crispy shell

but they don’t eat

the meaty flavor inside

Instead they slip around

the oozing fluid

that comes dancing out

while I hold onto

the pearl

  1. LOVE this one!! So often when I read your offering it mirrors an emotion I have been feeling. You hit it again my friend. Thank you for sharing with us..

      1. Well there are many different levels of friendships of course, and ours has certainly not reached that of a long time deep and old friend, but I enjoy our interactions.
