Poem: Darkened Heart

In the shadow of my darkened heart

Hides the scribbled pages of tomorrow’s dreams

Touched by the imagined strike of cold reality hitting a hot hope

The thudding inside my craving chest

Can drive me mad

Driving me forward on the pain of lost years

They are gone

Lost somewhere in the recesses of my melting brain

I grasp forward

Reaching out with withering hands

Trying to reach for somewhere to grab

And hang on

And live

To push my way through it all to the light

Clearing, feeling nothing but expanse

Blowing within me

  1. Here’s to grasping forward and touching upon that hot hope you mention. I just know it’s going to happen this year for you! I feel it in my bones.
